About us
Whitbourne Hall was built by Edward Bickerton Evans in the 1860's in the Classical Greek Style. The south front
of the house has a splendid columned portico under which the front door
opens into an impressive passage furnished with hunting trophies and
sturdy oak tables.
Beyond lies the
breathtaking space of the Main Hall with its corithian type pillars and
white marble staircase. The ceiling is glazed with blue patterned
glass flooding light onto the white stonework. The floor is
covered with brightly coloured tiles.
Conservation Plans With funding from English Heritage, renovation work has now been completeded on the Palm House. Future plans include the sale of some of the vacant rooms for apartments. The monies raised will contribute towards the ongoing conservation strategy. The first steps being the repair of the roof and refurbishment of the public rooms.
